Before I met Isabelle I was sceptical of sport psychology as I was not sure that it would bring real results.

After I had experienced two difficult seasons, I started to work with Isabelle Decarnière on a regular basis and my excitement for the sport came back. Not only did my race results improve but my private life also seems to be more structured and positively influenced by Isabelle’s mental coaching techniques! Because of the immense benefits Isabelle's coaching offered, I decided to continue to work with her until I reach my Olympic dream.

Through her training I have learned that it's all in your head!

Dirk Bockel, triathlon champion of Luxembourg and member of the Luxembourg Olympic Team.

My work with Isabelle Decarnière has helped me, in a phase of great doubt, to find my confidence again. Result? A more fluid performance, consistent, better results in competition, a real and stimulating pleasure. And this can only be beneficial for mental and physical health!

Since I work with Isabelle, I feel that I am better able to control my emotions and the stress during my matches. I feel more serene on the court and I am finding the pleasure in playing and fighting again, which is essential in order to attain my best level.

Claudine Schaul, professional tennis player

The work I do with Isabelle helps me a lot. I can’t say that I had any problems before my collaboration with Isabelle, but I was not sure of my own mental preparation. Now I feel more serene before competition.

I made the choice to work with Isabelle at a critical point in my career. I said to myself that I had to attempt everything in order to progress. I realized that an athlete has to train hard physically, but he also has to train his mind – in order to be able to manage his capacity and to be better mentally prepared before competition.

I personally think that a mental preparation plays a very important role in the preparation of an athlete. And even a role as important as the workouts (in other words the physical preparation). In any case, the mental preparation I do with Isabelle has allowed me to develop in my sport!

David Fiegen, 800m European vice champion.

For me, Isa brought a personalized analysis of effort and suffering. She taught me to identify suffering and to learn to live with it. Accepting pain and using it in a positive way. She taught me to center and to concentrate on an event and on the effort in order to push beyond my limits. Because of her experience in sports and her love for work well done, she knows the questions an athlete asks himself and she offers several solutions to his problems.

She brings me understanding, confidence, peace and strength.

Jimmy Lomba, 800m vice champion of France.

In ‘centering’ before games, I am able to eliminate all muscular tension and the energy that comes up from my center gives me additional strength.

Thanks to imagery, I managed to strengthen my mental aspects and in applying deep breathing technique I succeeded in increasing my concentration especially during important and decisive points during a game. Even when being a few points behind during a set, I don’t worry any longer; I play point after point and concentrate on using imagery when necessary. This technique has also helped me reduce my faults during the game.

Thanks to your mental coaching, Isabelle, I have achieved with my partner Jeanne Schneider, my best beach volley-ball season. We qualified easily for the JPEE 2007 and we have established our selves in the Belgian Championships right from our first participation.

Norma Zambon, member of the Luxembourg Champion beach volleyball team.

I chose to look for a mental coach in order to work on my weak mental points, so that during my beach volley games I would no longer lose my nerves because of being slightly behind in points, and to increase my concentration during the game. Isabelle Decarnière helped me well in doing some kind of hypnosis which reaches my subconscious and fixes my little problems. I was very happy to have made that choice, because I was able to notice progress soon after beginning with the therapy.

Jeanne Schneider, member of the champion beach-volley team of Luxembourg.

I play tennis since I am 8 years old. People say I have lots of talent. In spite of my talent I am not self-confident. During a tight match I am always stressed (sometimes even anxious). This blocks me enormously. To master those problems I consult since 1 year and on a regular basis my mental coach, Isabelle Decarnière.

Thanks to her advice I manage to stay calm during those matches and my attitude has become more and more positive. But it doesn’t always work. It also depends on my opponent, the environment and many other things.

Personally I am very happy and reassured to be able to work with my mental coach and I thank her sincerely for her help.

Ferry Yann, 14 years old, tennis player.

Competing in high level sports is not compatible with our school system, or with the Luxembourg mentality. The athlete is always under pressure either through his sport or his school. In order to best be able to help once child succeed, discussions and advice are essential. But parents are limited in the ability to help and professional advice from a sports psychologist is necessary not only for the athlete but also for the parents who are sometimes overwhelmed by the events.

Since Madame Decarnière sees our son Yann on a regular basis, the pressure in our family life has considerably diminished and one often hears:” We absolutely have to take about it to Isabelle”, which reassures us considerably.
Thank you for your commitment.

Brigitte et Romain Ferry, parents of Yann.
